With Valentine’s Day right around the corner who can resist a red lip? Cliché? Of course, but irresistibly festive so pucker up! As for finding the perfect shade, I can never pick just one- here are 5 that I trust will universally please:
Ruby Woo by MAC Cosmetics is a really matte lipstick with a blue-red undertone meaning it’s best suited for cool skin tones. If you don’t know whether your skin is warm or cool, find some natural light and look at the veins on the underside of your wrist. If they’re more blue, you’re cool. More green, you’re warm. If you can’t tell if they are more blue or green in color, you are most likely neutral which means you look can pull off either tone. Lucky you!
YSL Rouge Volupté Shine in #12 Corail Incandescent is a great moisturizing lipstick. The color has an orangey base making it a great choice for warmer skin tones like myself. BONUS- as if their gold packaging isn’t gorgeous enough on its own, they offer complimentary engraving with purchase. LOVE this detail.
NARS Velvet Lip Glide is a new high-pigmented product that glides like a gloss and coats like a lipstick with a semi-matte finish. They offer 13 different shades that pair well with a wide variety of skin tones. I’m loving it in the color Mineshaft.
Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick has a classic cream finish and it’s one of my all time favs. The shade Fire & Ice is definitely my trusted go to. It has long lasting wear and I love the non-drying texture. This is the first red I ever purchased so we go way back to the over bronzed, over bleached days. Eek! It’s the only thing I let stick around- that should say something!
L’Absolu Rouge Lipstick by Lancome comes in 44 different shades and 3 finishes – cream, matte, and sheer. I prefer the cream in this one, but I think the matte would look gorgeous too. It’s a super hydrating lipstick, check out the shade Merlot- it looks great on any skin tone!
If you try one of these or have your own go to red let me know!
