I LOVE face masks.  Mostly because I’m really impatient and I want fast results, which is what they tend to provide.  There are a handful of masks that I regularly use for different skin issues, and they have become staples in my skincare routine.

I always look forward to cozy nights in where I slather on a mask, sip some peppermint tea, and read a good book while it works its magic.  It’s a quick and efficient way to pamper yourself at home, and can yield some impressive results.

Before purchasing, I suggest trying samples when you can find them.  I recently tried out a sample of a mask that I’d heard people raving about and I did NOT like it.  It saved me from investing in the full size version, which I would’ve definitely regretted.  You can find a sample kit of Peter Thomas Roth masks that are pretty popular here.  Search around before purchasing, you’d be suprised what pint-sized beauty/skincare products are available!

OK, here are the 5 BEST face masks for your skin:

DEEP CLEANSING FOR OILY SKIN

Peter Thomas Roth Therapeutic Sulfur Mask

Peter Thomas Roth Therapeutic Sulfur Masque: Great for breakouts and times when skin is feeling extra oily or congested.  Whenever I use this it instantly calms my skin and leaves me with a brighter, even tone.  It works well when used as a spot treatment too.  Warning: it has a pretty strong sulfur scent that will transfer to washcloths/towels.  I washed a load of towels with the washcloth I used to remove the mask and it made the whole load smell like sulfur.  Gross, but the mask is so worth it.  Just wash in separate loads or splash water on your face to remove.

BRIGHTENING FOR ALL SKIN TYPES

GlamGlow Flashmud Brightening Treatment

GlamGlow Flashmud Brightening Treatment: I just started using this mask and I love it already.  It’s great for anyone with skin discoloration or hyperpigmentation.  make sure you follow the directions and use it for 3 days in a row to start and then 2-3 times per week after that.  There is a lot of hype around the GlamGlow masks right now and this one definitely lives up to it.  It exfoliates and brightens skin, while boosting radiance.  It has a delicious, citrusy scent and leaves your skin feeling so smooth.  It’s probably my numero uno right now because I’ve seen such quick results with it.  I can’t wait to try the GlamGlow GravityMud Firming Treatment too!

MOISTURE FOR DRY/COMBINATION SKIN

Mario Badescu Super Collagen Mask

Mario Badescu Super Collagen Mask:  I am a big fan of Mario Badescu products.  The Drying Lotion and Facial Spray are some of my fav skincare regulars.  This mask feels like a drink for your skin.  It’s super moisturizing and pore-refining.  Leaves skin feeling soft and calms any redness. Great for sensitive types!  I use it when my skin is over stimulated and I just need something simple and soothing.

EXFOLIATING AND SMOOTHING FOR DRY/COMBINATION SKIN

Naturopathica Pear Fig Polishing Enzyme Peel

Naturopathica Pear Fig Polishing Enzyme PeelThis product is a peel not a mask, but it’s something you leave on your face so I feel like it could be a mask?  Anyways, I love this peel so much it has replaced my exfoliator.  I use it 1-2 times a week and leave it on for no longer than 5 minutes.  It’s an intense peel that leaves your skin feeling smooth and polished.  I love that Naturopathica uses natural ingredients that actually do their job.  You know how you can get a natural/organic product that doesn’t seem to be strong enough?  Not the case with this enzyme peel.  I like to put it on and jump in the shower.  The steam seems to activates it even more.  They also have a Pumpkin Purifying Peel and a Sweet Cherry Brightening Peel.  Luckily I’ve had the chance to try them all because my Mom carries Naturopathica at La Vie Salon Spa & Wellness.  She gives the most luxurious facials with these products—booking one would be a good way to test out the line if you’re interested!

DETOXIFYING FOR ALL SKIN TYPES

Cocovit Coconut Charcoal Mask

Cocovit Coconut Charcoal Mask:  This mask is so fun.  It comes in a powder form, and you can mix it with water, honey, or yogurt to create a paste.  I use water, but I definitely want to try one of the other liquids.  It lasts forever because you don’t need to add much.  It works like a natural magnet for toxins, impurities, and excess oil, leaving your skin looking fresh and clear.  I love that the powder consists of coconut charcoal, turmeric powder, and Indian ginseng.  SO good for your skin.  I will warn do NOT leave this on longer than the recommended drying time.  You can tell when it’s dry—skin will feel a little itchy and tight.  If left longer it could make your skin irritated and red.  Turmeric is a strong ingredient!

So now you have 5 seriously good face masks to help keep your skin on point.  Let me know which ones you’re loving, or if you have any I need to know about!
